Privacy
No accounts. This page explains the storage on your device, the services that receive your data, and how advertising and measurement work, including how to opt out.
What stays on your device
The planner remembers your unit choice (°F and feet, or °C and meters) and your recently viewed sailings in your browser’s storage, plus a short-lived cache of weather lookups. That data never leaves your device. Clear your browser data to remove it.
Weather services
To show forecasts for U.S. ports, your browser requests data straight from the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov). Those requests contain the coordinates and dates of the ports on the sailing you are viewing. The service sees your IP address as with any website, and its own privacy terms apply.
For every other port, your browser asks this site’s own server, which requests the forecast from MET Norway (api.met.no) and from the German Weather Service (DWD) through Bright Sky (api.brightsky.dev). Those requests carry only a port’s coordinates and time zone. They never include your IP address, and the services see our server, not you. Your browser’s request to our server is handled by Cloudflare like any other page of this site.
Advertising
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners are third-party vendors that use cookies and similar technologies, including device identifiers, to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires it, personalized ads and the related cookies are used only if you consent. Without consent, you may see non-personalized ads, which use the page you are on and your approximate location instead of your browsing history.
Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show ads to you based on your visits to this site and others. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s Ads Settings or at aboutads.info. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland can change or withdraw consent at any time through the privacy settings link in the footer. To learn how Google handles data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Measurement
With your consent where it is required, this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. We do not use it to identify you. You can block it with a browser extension or by declining the consent prompt.
Hosting
Like any web host, ours records standard request logs. Fonts and scripts for the site itself are served from this site.
